Overview :
Thessaloniki is the second biggest city of Greece located in Central Macedonia. It is often called the "bride of the north" since it is the capital of northern Greece and a very beautiful city. The city of Thessaloniki was founded in 315 BC by Cassander of Macedon. Due to its long history, the city is a combination of three cultures (Greek, Roman, Byzantine). It is home to numerous notable monuments, historic buildings, and squares, churches. The old and modern architecture coexist in a lively city with vibrant cultural life ready to captivate you!
What to expect :
Our day trip to Thessaloniki will begin around 9:00 in the morning.
First stop while entering the city the "City Walls". Although twenty minutes are not enough in order for you to say I am done with it you will have the opportunity totake pictures and enjoy the view from the entire city from one of the spots with the most breathtaking view in Thessaloniki. The bus continues to the next stop which is "Agios Dimitrios" church one of the most famous churches in Thessaloniki since Agios Dimitrios is considered to be the protector of the city. After that your free time in order to explore and visit the monuments of Thessaloniki and end up shopping in Tsimiski or in Egnatia begins. Roman Ancient Market , Rotonda Church, Galerius Arch, Agia Sofia Church, Macedonia Museums and many more. The central market known as Kentriki Agora a covered food center, and all side streets surrounding it, is an experience that should not be missed. It is there that you will find the most remarkable exhibition of flowers, fruits, vegetables, fish and meat. Original copper products will be found at the Chalkeon (coppersmith) area. Of course, along the way, there are ceramics, rugs and extraordinary handicrafts and so many others more. The best way to close you day at Thessaloniki after sight-seeing and shopping would be by drinking coffee or having lunch in front of the sea enjoying the view of the White Tower before your way back.
