Day 1: Thessaloniki – Meteora – Metsovo
-Begin the tour from Thessaloniki and departure to Meteora,
visit the Meteora Monasteries. Meteora is a geological miracle,
which one should see for himself to believe. Nowadays, only
six monasteries are well preserved and four of them are still
inhabited. We shall visit 2 of these fabulous monasteries, built
high upon the steep rocks. Each monastery owns a vast richness
of frescoes and icons.
-Continue to the traditional grey stone
village of Metsovo where you will taste wine from local wineries.
-Dinner and overnight in Metsovo.
Day 2: Ioannina – Zagorochoria
-Breakfast at the hotel and move from Metsovo to Ioannina
the capital city of Epirus, a city which spreads around the
beautiful lake Pamvotida.
-We shall discover the castle town of
Ioannina and the Ali Pasha Museum located on a small island
in the middle of the lake.
-The tour will continue with a visit at
Dodoni archaeological site, which with its imposing theatre, the
sanctuary and an acropolis enclosed by fortified walls are held
to be the oldest of the Greek oracles and is unique in its time.
-We continue to the traditional village of Aristi in the evening for
dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Konitsa – Zagorochoria
-Breakfast and tour to Konitsa village with the stone bridge at
the entrance. Amphitheatrically built on a slope of Trapezitsa
mountain, at an altitude of 600 m, with a fertile plain where
three rivers flow, Aoos, Voidomatis and Sarandaporos.
-Visit the Holy Monastery of Molyvdoskepasti, a byzantine monastery
which gives the feeling of a fortress.
-Back to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Vergina – Pella – Thessaloniki
-Breakfast and early departure to Vergina, once the capital of the
The Macedonian Kingdom and nowadays one of the most important
archeological sites of Greece.
-Visit the museum with the Royal tomb of King Philip II, father of Alexander the Great.
-Next stop Pella the Macedonian state capital, and the glorious kingdom of ancient Macedonia, where Alexander the Great was born. A palatial complex that covers an area of 60000 m2, and agora a commercial and manufacturing center which was in fact the
biggest agora of the ancient world. Late in the afternoon, we make our way back to Thessaloniki.
